An online roundtable organised by the EdUP project brought together business representatives and partners to begin work on the professional standard for the full professional qualification “Assembler of Light-Transmitting Structures.”

The idea to develop the standard and hold the meeting emerged during the work of the EdUP Project Business Advisory Council and was endorsed by the Project Supervisory Board as a necessary step towards strengthening employers’ involvement in shaping the content of vocational education.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Institute of Vocational Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, the University of Educational Management of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Glas Trösch Ukraine, the Association “Ukrainian Manufacturers of Light-Transmitting Structures,” and profine Ukraine LLC.

The meeting featured extensive discussions and proposals regarding the future standard, its compliance with current legislation, and European and international standards in vocational education.

“The roundtable was not only the starting point for the initiative group’s work, but also a much-needed platform for in-depth professional discussion, exchange of views, and the search for the best solutions. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from business, education, and the EdUP project, as it is through this synergy of efforts and expertise that we can improve the quality of education and enhance the training of professionals.”

As a result of the first meeting, the initiative group completed a number of organisational tasks: the participants agreed on a basic partnership model, selected an approach to preparing the application with justification and confirmation from employers, and agreed on a two-level working model and a list of the required occupational competencies.

  • The Association “Ukrainian Manufacturers of Light-Transmitting Structures”, represented by its Executive Director Mykhailo Orlenko, was selected as the developer of the professional standard.
  • For methodological support in developing the standard, the participants selected Svitlana Kravets, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Head of the Department of Foreign Vocational Education Systems and Head of the Centre for Modern Professions and Learning Technologies at the Institute of Vocational Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
  • Glas Trösch Ukraine was selected as the main employer-partner and a source of industry expertise, represented by Serhii Sorokun, General Manager of Glas Trösch Group in Ukraine and Moldova.

The professional standard will be developed in accordance with the current version of the Procedure for the Development, Introduction and Revision of Professional Standards, approved by Resolution No. 373 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The EdUP project will facilitate further meetings of the group, serving as a consultation and communication platform for work on the new standard.

“The EdUP project coordinates the development of a number of professional standards, and together with our partners we have already achieved good results — two new standards have been approved. The kick-off meeting was extremely productive and inspiring, so the project will provide as much expertise as possible to ensure effective and comfortable work for the group and contribute to the development of this much-needed professional standard.”

The work has only just begun, so those interested are welcome to join the working group developing the professional standard for the professional qualification “Assembler of Light-Transmitting Structures.”
