The EdUP project hosted a professional skills competition, bringing together 50 participants from across Ukraine to Vinnytsia. Among them were 25 vocational students training as welders and 25 production training instructors who supported their students throughout the event.<\/p>

A Showcase of Skills: Practical and Theoretical Challenges<\/strong><\/h3>

Participants demonstrated their expertise through both theoretical knowledge and practical application across four welding methods:<\/p>

1\ufe0f\u20e3 MMA<\/strong> \u2013 Manual Metal Arc Welding.
2\ufe0f\u20e3 MIG\/MAG<\/strong> \u2013 Gas Metal Arc Welding.
3\ufe0f\u20e3 TIG<\/strong> \u2013 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
4\ufe0f\u20e3 Gas Welding<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

During breaks, participants and educators had the chance to practice on virtual welding simulators<\/strong> provided by ABICOR BINZEL Ukraine<\/strong>. These high-tech simulators replicate welding processes with precision, helping improve skills and enhance professional training.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition to the competition, instructors attended a workshop on “Effective Teaching Skills”<\/strong>, focusing on refining feedback methods and communication strategies.<\/p>

Fair and High-Quality Evaluation by European Standards<\/strong><\/h3>

The practical tasks were assessed based on European standards, ensuring fairness and top-quality judging. The panel included experts from the Ukrainian Welders\u2019 Association (TZU)<\/strong>, led by technical expert and TZU member Oleksandr Vorobiov<\/strong>.<\/p>

A Symbolic Time for Ukraine’s Reconstruction<\/strong><\/h3>

Andrii Bezuhlii<\/strong>, Director of Vocational School No. 5 in Vinnytsia, emphasized the symbolic timing of the competition:<\/p>

\ud83d\udccc “Our school was established in 1946 after World War II to train builders for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Today, our country faces a similar challenge\u2014to rebuild itself. Skilled professionals, particularly welders, are essential for this task. Events like this competition contribute to achieving that goal.”<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Inspiration in Action: The Story of Yulia Berehuliak<\/strong><\/h3>

    A standout participant was Yulia Berehuliak<\/strong>, the only female contestant. Her journey is a testament to determination and passion.<\/p>

    Inspired by her father, a welder, Yulia developed a love for welding and engineering from a young age. Now a first-year student at the Interregional Higher Vocational School of Automotive Transport and Construction, she has already proven herself to be an ambitious and talented learner.<\/p>

    \ud83d\udccc “I trained with semi-automatic welding at college and learned argon welding at a factory. During the competition, I competed using both methods, and it went great!” Yulia shared.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Her hard work paid off, earning her \ud83e\udd49 third place in argon welding (Method 141)<\/strong>. Yulia’s achievement highlights the importance of equal access to vocational education for everyone, regardless of gender.<\/p>

    Paving the Way to International Success<\/strong><\/h3>

    The “WELDING EdUP 2024”<\/strong> competition served as a stepping stone for participants preparing for the Golden Cup Linde-2025<\/strong>, an international competition to be held in the Czech Republic.<\/p>

    This event not only showcased the talents of young welders but also strengthened vocational education in Ukraine, inspired future professionals, and equipped them to face global challenges.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
