The EdUP project held an educational-practical conference “Modern Technologies in Tile Laying” for masters of vocational education schools.
"We and our partners pass on the best practices to the vocational training masters. This is our first educational-practical conference, and there will be a series to follow. Our task, together with our partners, representatives of businesses and employers, is to go through the entire educational standard and improve it, so that you become true trainers for your students, who will go to production tomorrow, where they can apply the skills acquired during training."
Yuliia Yepifanova, Head of the "Private Sector Engagement" department of the EdUP project
39 educators from 29 vocational education institutions across Ukraine were enhancing their skills under the guidance of experts from leading companies Sika Ukraine and Distar LTD, to later pass on their skills to their students.
"At Sika, we feel a social responsibility of business towards society, especially in these difficult times. Our common goal is to do everything possible to ensure that our children, vocational education students, stay in Ukraine. For this, they need to enter the job market as qualified workers capable of earning good money. It is also important for us to elevate the prestige of professions so that children do not go to study to become managers, but rather want to work with their hands, using modern technologies and knowing how to work with quality materials."
Georgii Kovalchuk, Head of Distribution at Sika Ukraine
The theoretical part regarding the preparation and facing of surfaces was presented by experts from SIKA Ukraine. And the processing of tiles with special tools was discussed by experts from DISTAR.
The practical module included the following activities:
📌 Laying tiles on vertical and horizontal surfaces provided by SIKA Ukraine ;
📌 Selection of equipment for drilling holes and maintaining geometry provided by DISTAR;
📌 Cutting ceramic and porcelain tiles. Here, a master class for participants is conducted by a master tiler with 20 years of experience and an international category judge, Oleksandr Vyshynskyi.
The knowledge and skills acquired by vocational training masters during such training are necessary for vocational school graduates to enter the job market as qualified workers familiar with modern technologies and materials for work.
