🎯 Expanding Educational Opportunities for Adults: EdUP and Tech StartUp School Develop Short-Term Courses in Chernihiv and Pryluky
The EdUP project, in collaboration with the Tech StartUp School team, facilitated two roundtable discussions to shape the content of short-term training programs. These programs will be implemented at three vocational education institutions:
🔹 Prilutsky Professional Lyceum in Pryluky
🔹 Chernihiv Professional Railway Transport Lyceum in Chernihiv
🔹 Chernihiv Higher Vocational School in Chernihiv
The roundtables served as a platform for developing a list of micro-qualifications that local adults can acquire through vocational education institutions. Facilitators, together with EdUP project expert Maksym Pekhovka, engaged in discussions with representatives from local and state authorities, businesses, civil society, and vocational education institutions.
All participants unanimously agreed that the local labor market is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers and potential participants for vocational courses. This pilot initiative will help us better understand how to design a program that meets the needs of the local labor market, aligns with institutional capacity, and responds to community demands."
Maksym Pekhovka, EdUP Project Expert
💬 "The discussions revealed a general trend of declining workforce availability, highlighting the need to introduce training programs focused on micro-qualifications. These courses will attract adults seeking new skills and provide businesses with a skilled workforce or help self-employed individuals enhance their expertise."
Nataliya Dankova, Tech StartUp School Expert
🔍 Key Outcomes:
Based on the roundtable results, the team has identified at least two relevant directions for short-term courses to be implemented in vocational institutions in Chernihiv and Pryluky. These courses will open new opportunities for adult professional development, enhance local workforce competitiveness, and contribute to regional economic growth.
🛠️ Next Steps:
Each institution has conducted a reflection session and discussed future plans for developing these short-term courses, considering available resources, technical infrastructure, and potential partnerships with businesses.
The next phase will include educational activities and training sessions to share best practices in teaching and applying innovative educational approaches.
