Education of instructors and teachers
Innovations in plumbing education
38 vocational instructors and teachers from more than 20 VET schools have started participating in the Innovations in Plumbing Education conference. It took place on 30-31 January in Kyiv as part of the Public-Private Partnership for Improving Plumbing Education in Ukraine (EdUP) project.
Every day, representatives of 11 plumbing and heating companies conducted training for the participants: they told them about new equipment used in water supply, sewage and heating, taught them how to install modern built-in faucets, boilers, heat pumps and more.
"Such events are very important for the professional development of teachers. We have the opportunity not only to learn about plumbing innovations, listen to theory, but also to acquire new skills in practice. Nowadays, there is a large selection of theoretical material: online resources, exhibitions, but thanks to EdUP, we have been able to participate in such events for many years. This increases our professional capacity as teachers. As a result, the school's students win professional competitions and are competitive in the labour market."

The event consisted of theoretical and practical blocks. The two days covered 11 theoretical and 22 practical blocks on the following topics:
- water filtration in the apartment (Ecosoft, BWT);
- tees or collector: water and heating piping systems (UPONOR);
- operation of boilers (GORENJE);
- built-in mixers and the use of shower drains (HANSGROHE);
- comparison/use of pipelines of different materials in modern construction (KAN);
- installations: types and subtleties of installation (GEBERIT).
- balancing the heating system with a smart pump (GRUNDFOS);
- electric boilers (VAILLANT);
- wall-mounted condensing gas boilers (FONDITAL);
- air-to-water heat pumps (League of Installers);
- balancing of water heating systems (HERZ).
"Our country has suffered a lot of damage from the aggressor. Now we are taking care of training the hands that will help with the recovery. At the conference, we talk about the latest solutions, equipment and techniques. We focus on preparing teachers as well as possible, and they relay the information to students. In addition, it is a good platform for communication: teachers can directly ask questions to manufacturers, businesses, or share their experience with each other."
